You can't be good at everything

Your favorite novelist probably skipped a few meals and un-skipped a few cigarettes while wrestling her bestseller into submission. That neighbor with the perfect fence and the perfect kids is actually living their Plan B. The most popular man in town is late for work and probably hungover. That juggler of scimitars is most definitely single.

You can’t be good at everything. Whether it’s health, wealth, craft, or relationships, something needs a turn on the backburner.

Life is about distributing what you suck at. Children mastering footsteps have beginner-level toilet skills. Folks healing after trauma will fall behind on the group chat. When you’re crushing it on one thing, something else is getting bombed. The price of focus is that it blurs everything else.

When you’re getting better at something, you get to suck at something else. Revel in the suck. You can’t be good at everything, nor do you have to be.
